Torre de Guzmán

This ancient tower is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Conil and dates back all the way to the 14th century. The Torre de Guzman is the center and birth place of Conil de la Frontera, the original core, around which the medieval village formed during the 14th and 15th centuries. During the reign of the dukes of Medina Sidonia it formed part of the castle walls which protected the Christian city and also functioned as a watchtower overlooking the coastline, guarding against continuous attacks from Ottoman pirates. At present it houses an interpretation centre with a lot of information about the history of Conil, including the tuna fishing tradition and a film showing the surrounding area.
Highlights:
- Dive into the medieval past with the tower’s small exhibition, where artifacts and stories reveal Conil’s role as a fortified coastal stronghold centuries ago
- Enjoy some fresh air and spectacular views from the top, especially at sunset
